Government COBRA Help to End
According to The Wall Street Journal, "Just a few months after passing the comprehensive health-care overhaul, U.S. lawmakers appear willing to risk a short-term backslide in the push to reduce the number of uninsured Americans until the legislation's major provisions take effect in 2014."
"Unless Congress passes an extension retroactively, people who lose their jobs on or after June 1 no longer will receive government financial help to cover 65% of their premium costs for Cobra health coverage, which lets them continue on their former employer's group health plan."

Yikes! GMAC Finds 38 Million Drivers Probably Should Not Be Driving
According to gmacinsurance.com, "The 2010 GMAC Insurance National Drivers Test released today found that nearly 1 in 5 licensed drivers - roughly 38 million Americans - would not pass a written drivers test exam if taken today. Kansas drivers ranked first in the nation (82.3 percent average score); New York drivers ranked last (70 percent average score)."
Unfortunately the same survey of drivers revealed that distracted driving is an admitted problem. According to the survey, "drivers conduct a variety of distracting behaviors behind the wheel; approximately 1 in 4 participants admitted to driving while talking on a cell phone, eating and adjusting the radio or selecting songs on an iPod. However, only five percent reported they text while driving. Overall, a significantly higher percentage of females than males reported engaging in the following distracting situations: conversation with passengers, selecting songs on an iPod or CD/adjusting the radio, talking on a cell phone, eating, applying make-up and reading."

Should You Avoid LSVs?
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety you should. LSVs or Low Speed Vehicles are becoming more popular than ever but are pushing outside their original intended use.
According to the IIHS, "More states are allowing a relatively new breed of vehicle on public roads, but crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety show why the mix of low-speed vehicles (LSVs) or minitrucks and regular traffic is a deadly combination. LSVs are designed for tooling around residential neighborhoods, and minitrucks are for hauling cargo off-road. While these vehicles have a lot of appeal as a way to reduce emissions and cut fuel use, they don't have to meet the basic safety standards that cars and pickups do, and they aren't designed to protect their occupants in crashes."
The IIHS recommends using safety tested but smaller vehicles such as the smart fortwo instead of a LSV. And on the insurance side, a smaller safety tested car instead of a LSV will be more insurance friendly.
